What's It To You?

My name is Brent Byerly and this is my personal Sci Fi modeling site. I have been crafting wooden spaceship models for several years now and until this blog could only display them on a bookshelf. Thanks to the wonders of the web they may finally have a wider audience. Please feel free to comment (keep it family friendly please).

"Old Number 40"

I finished this one up, last year about the time I turned 40. I couldn't think of a name for it so I affectionately refer to her as "Old Number 40" in honor of my personal milestone. I hope I can make "Old Number 100" some day.

USS Hyco: Complete

Pics of the completed Hyco. I've named her Hyco after a North Carolina river. When all other ideas escape me I go to rivers. There's plenty of interesting names associated with them. The ship would be classified as a cruiser. It's primary purpose would be exploration but if need be can show some teeth in battle.

Inspiration: USS Hyco

OK this one just sort of happened. I went out to the shop to cut some embellishments for the USS Surprise and ended up cutting out another whole new ship as well. It's called the USS Hyco. Here's where I'm at so far. I'll update further later.

Current Build on the Bench: Un-named Trek Class

This is a rough sketch of a design that I've been contemplating for awhile. It's a primitive Starfleet type vessel that would have been used just prior too and probably during the Earth/Romulan War. An old rust bucket that would have been pulled out of mothballs or perimeter duty to serve in a Coast Guard type capacity. This one is currently on the bench and has the main body assembled. Should be done in about another week. More to come.

The One That Started It All

I named this one USS Hawking (after Steven Hawking). This was my first "detailed" model completed. This would be considered a pre-TOS (the original series) style starship from the Star Trek series.
